Changelog

What we shipped, and when.

Product changes, infrastructure work and operational milestones, in plain words. Updated whenever something you would notice lands.

  1. Improvement

    HD voice

Calls now use HD voice automatically whenever both ends support it: the browser softphone, the desktop app and supported desk phones. Voices sound fuller and clearer, with nothing to switch on. Calls to and from ordinary phone numbers still travel over the standard phone network.

  2. Improvement

One voice engine for every AI receptionist

Every AI receptionist now speaks through the same voice engine. Receptionists that used an older voice option moved over on their own, keeping their voice where it is still offered. Nothing to change on your side.

  3. Improvement

    Website visits counted without cookies

We count visits to our website ourselves, with no cookies, no outside analytics service and no stored IP addresses.

  4. Improvement

An itemized quote for every business

Every business now gets a written quote within one business day, with every tax and fee for its own address on its own line. Accept it online from the email, and your account is set up from it. Your bill matches the quote.

  5. Feature

    Follow up on send

Set a follow-up as you send a reply. It becomes a task with a reminder, and the task shows Reply received when the customer answers.

  6. Feature

    Tasks

Standalone tasks with reminders and files, or a task made from any conversation and linked back to it. Tick one off and Undo is right there.

  7. Feature

    Custom roles

Build your own roles from 51 permissions grouped by area, or start from a built-in template. Each page in the console now checks the same permissions as the actions on it.

  8. Feature

    Connected AI apps

An admin can let an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude read and draft in the Inbox through a consented connection, with the scopes you choose. Off until you turn it on; the AI drafts and a person sends.

  9. Improvement

Inbox: a tab per channel and repeat callers as one row

Filter the Inbox by calls, voicemail, texts or receptionist conversations. Someone who rings three times is one row, not three. Calls that still need notes collect in a Needs wrap-up view.

  10. Feature

Done, Undo and saved views in the Inbox

Mark a conversation done in one click and take it back with Undo. Save the views you use every day. Receptionist conversations close themselves when nothing is left to do, and texts get saved replies and live delivery status.

  11. Improvement

    Inactive team members

Mark someone inactive when they leave, keep their history, and reactivate them if they come back.

  12. Improvement

    Recording waits for the disclosure

A call is recorded only once the caller has heard that it is. The AI receptionist also now ends a call the way a person does: after both sides have said goodbye.

  13. Feature

Your own prompts and hold music

One library for greetings, prompts and hold music. Upload a file or record a prompt from any phone, then use it in any call flow or queue.

  14. Feature

    The Windows desktop app

A signed Windows app that keeps calls ringing with the browser closed and updates itself when a new version ships. Download it from the downloads page.

  15. Feature

Switch a call to another device

Move a live call to another of your devices, or to your desk phone, mid-conversation. Only the device that has the call shows its controls.

  16. Improvement

    Guided texting registration

Carrier registration for business texting is a guided step in the console: the brand, the campaign and the numbers, with the carrier cost shown before anything is submitted.

  17. Feature

    Passkeys and required MFA

Sign in with a passkey or an authenticator app. Owners can require MFA for the whole organization, with a grace period for people to enrol.

  18. Improvement

The screen pop is a side panel

When the phone rings, the caller’s record, open tickets and next appointment open in one side panel next to whatever you were doing.

  19. Improvement

Hold and transfer from the desk phone

The Hold and Transfer keys on supported desk phones now work on Hey Quad calls, the same as in the browser.

  20. Feature

    Call routing

Transfer to a person, a queue, a call flow, the AI receptionist or an outside number. Queues announce a caller’s place in line, wrap-up time is built in, and every call has a journey report showing each hop.

  21. Feature

    A rebuilt CRM

A Today view of what needs you, contact lists, a contact record with one timeline of every call, text and appointment, and a deals board.

  22. Feature

    Email in the Inbox

A shared team mailbox with compose, drafts and attachments, in the same Inbox as calls and texts. Switched on per account; sending from your own domain is not available yet.

  23. Improvement

Call flow templates and safer publishing

Start a call flow from a template, see exactly what changed before you publish, and place a test call against a draft.

  24. Feature

    Public booking pages

Share a page where customers book a time themselves, then reschedule or cancel from the link in their confirmation.

  25. Feature

Text messaging is part of every seat

Send and receive texts from the same place you take calls. Every seat includes a monthly allowance of texts, pooled across your team, and incoming texts are always free. Carrier registration, the step that stops business texts being filtered, is handled for you.

  26. Improvement

Phone numbers: porting and clean releases

Bringing your existing numbers over runs from the console, including the paperwork the losing carrier checks, and a rejected port can be corrected and resubmitted. Releasing a number really releases it: the texting registration and the billing stop together.

  27. Feature

Appointments, customer records, and a receptionist that books

A real calendar with services, availability and drag-to-move, plus email and text reminders. Customers can reschedule or cancel from a link. The AI receptionist reads your own documents to answer questions, books into that calendar, and hands a caller to a person with the context already on screen.

  28. Feature

    One softphone everywhere

A rebuilt softphone shared by the browser and the apps, so calls look and behave the same everywhere, in light or dark. The Android app that uses it is in testing ahead of Google Play.

  29. Infrastructure

    A faster platform underneath

The whole backend was rebuilt for speed and lower memory use. Dashboards, reports and the console load noticeably quicker, and the call path no longer competes with console traffic for resources.

  30. Infrastructure

We run our own call platform now

Calls are answered, routed and bridged by software we built and operate ourselves, on our own servers, rather than by a third-party platform. When something sounds wrong we fix it instead of filing a ticket with a vendor.

  31. Feature

    Blog launch

The Hey Quad blog is live at /blog with audio narration, RSS, and tag and author pages.

  32. Feature

    Hey Quad public launch

heyquad.com is live: business phone service with a browser softphone, drag-and-drop call flows, and desk phones configured before they ship.
