Compare · Built in vs. bolted on
Hey Quad vs Nextiva
Nextiva builds more into its entry plan than most: business texting, a basic CRM with ticketing, and voicemail transcription. Two things sit outside it: their AI employee, XBert, is a separate add-on, and desk phones are sold per unit. And the pricing page says nothing at all about taxes or fees. With Hey Quad desk phones are available on request, the AI receptionist is a line on the same quote, and so is every tax and fee for your address.

What the advertised price leaves out
Nextiva’s pricing page says nothing about taxes or fees at all.
On top of any advertised seat price come your state and local communications taxes, a 911 fee per number, the federal Universal Service charge and, with most providers, a fee line of their own. Our quote lists every one of them for your address before you sign, and adds no “regulatory recovery fee” of our own. What each of those lines is.
Where Nextiva is better
Nextiva is a real customer-experience platform, not just a phone system. If you need a blended inbound and outbound contact centre, social and review management and journey orchestration under one login, their higher tiers do things we do not do at all and are not trying to. Their published trust signals are also in a different league: SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certifications, 24/7 phone support, and a support organisation that exists at three in the morning. For a business with twenty agents and a formal queue, Nextiva is a serious answer and we are not.
We would rather you read that here than find it out in month two. If it describes your business, buy theirs.
Questions people ask
- Is Hey Quad cheaper than Nextiva?
- Compare the number on the invoice, not the one on a pricing page. Advertised seat prices leave out state and local taxes, the federal Universal Service charge, the provider’s own fee lines and every add-on in the table above. We send a written quote with all of it for your address, each on its own line, and the bill matches it, so you can put the two side by side before you sign.
- Do you cover my area?
- Tell us where the business is and we’ll quote you, including that location’s taxes and fees, each on its own line.
- Can I keep my number if I move from Nextiva?
- Yes. Your number is yours. We handle the port with your current carrier and schedule the switch so your phones do not go quiet in the middle of a workday. The switching guide has the steps.
- Does Nextiva say anything about taxes and fees?
- Not on the pricing page we read on 27 October 2026: no note that taxes apply and no fee explainer. State and local communications taxes alone can add a double-digit percentage in some places, so the silence matters. Our quote shows every one of them for your address.
- Does Nextiva need a contract?
- Their annual small-business price is for customers "signing a paid 12-month or longer minimum term agreement". Ours is 12 or 24 months with prices locked for the term, or month to month; your quote says which.
- Is Nextiva’s AI receptionist included?
- No. XBert is listed as a separate add-on. Ours is an add-on too, in named tiers with their own pool of AI minutes, priced on the same quote as everything else.
